Summary     1       2       3       4       5       6

What are the major strengths and weaknesses of the instructor?

1.
2.   He is interesting to listen to, thus making lectures enjoyable to watch and sit through. As a result, I learned more.
3.   Easy to contact/ask questions outside of class
4.   Strengths: Made the class fun and engagingGood sense of humor Able to make a four-hour lecture not so cumbersome. Weaknesses: --- No need to allow review of quizzes and homework take half the class period. Most people at this time have already mastered the concept by learning it on their own or figuring it out. No need to take so long doing the quizzes and homework. Instead it would have been better to prepare us for the next quiz topic, so we don't have to learn it on our own---- Did not teach the subject before we take a quiz on it. He changed toward the end of the class where he taught the subject before the quiz, which was great. It saved enormous outside studying time. No need to spend more than an hour going over previous quizzes we've already mastered. If people have a question, they can meet him during office hours. But during lecture time, let's keep moving forward. Not looking at stuff we've already done. Instead, let's cover what topics will be in the next quiz, not the topics already covered in the previous quiz. I think the Data Structures I and II could have been one class if we didn't spend so much time going over previous assignments and quizzes. As I said, if people have a question, they can always go to office hours. That's what they're there for.
5.   Organized and clear explanations
6.

What aspects of this course were most beneficial to you?

1.
2.   Doing the homework assignments and having quizzes.
3.   Discussion boards
4.   Teaching style, friendly, good humor, was particularly helpful for this kind of classHomework was helpful too.
5.   Programming assignments.
6.   Professor Riely is among the top 5 professors I've encountered throughout undergraduate, graduate, and professional classes. Very much looking forward to next semester.

What do you suggest to improve this course?

1.   speak slowly
2.   I think it would be fun to do a "fun assignment." Something like the binary bomb or buffer bomb from Systems I.
3.
4.   Weaknesses: --- No need to allow review of quizzes and homework take half the class period. 5.   The exam was way to long for the time given. Given more timeI I could have complete more. More assignments for homework and shorter exams.
